If you have taken a landscape shot which you are proud of, pop it in here.

Where possible include what it's a photo of, where/when you snapped it and the camera/lens you used; this way we can build up a little bank of example images taken on different cameras/lenses - and in the future maybe others can use these as a resource when choosing equipment.

Post as many times as you like, but can we avoid posting more than 3 in a row to make the content more mixed.

A couple of shots from a recent holiday to Holy Island in Northumberland. Images were taken with an EOS 60D on a 'beastie' of a benbo tripod, with cable release and a two way spirit level (worth its weight in gold), to ensure level horizons. Lense wa a Sigma 20-60mm f2.8.

Both shots are of/from the start of the causeway (mainland side) in dawn light. This meant I did not go to bed as I was staying in Beal and it was a mile walk to the start of the causeway. Dawn was at 3.30am an I usually set off about 2.30am. Since I do not normally go to bed much before 2.00am most days, there was not much benefit in going to bed for half an hour.

I am a bit of a sucker for poppy fields no matter how cliched. Thought you might like this one as it's fairly local, between Greasbrough and Rawmarsh near Rotherham. It was taken on a Pentax K20D with a Sigma 10-20mm lens. I no longer have either camera or lens, but I can thoroughly recommend the lens on APS-C sensors. It's taken at about 7pm in July and is actually a composite of two exposures about 3 stops apart - one of the sky and one for the poppies - not quite HDR, more 'MDR' :)

Here's a few of mine. 1 taken in Norway and the other in Whitby and the third at Needles Gate near Wentworth. Landscapes are something I really struggle with, more than anything else.
All images taken with my Canon 7D, the Norway image with a Tamron 28-300mm lens, now retired. The Whitby and Needles gate images were taken with my Sigma 17-50mm F2.8. I think the Exif data is available on all of them on Flickr.

A few quick tips I've picked up:

Narrow aperture, at least 7+ for a wide enough depth of field.

Have a subject in your photo, not just wide open scenery.

Try the rule of three for the horizon.

Two recent attempts at landscape from me. Not my usual area of photography but thought I'd have a go.

Just a thought, can someone please buy Sami some shoes because roads can have some nasty debris that WILL put her out of commission for a long time.

Cheers Moggy!

I have been going to the Cow & Calf for around 4 years taking photo's now, and have finally settled on an approach I like, rather than shooting just the rocks, added foreground and as wide as I can!
