In the three years that this group has been running, and out of over 50 outings to all sorts of places around the region, by far the most popular is a gentle stroll around Sheffield city centre as the sun goes down. There's something about this city whether it be daylight, twilight or dead of night, there is always something interesting to photograph.
As usual we started at the train station, but this time we took a walk into the 'Cultural Industrial Quarter' of the city to explore the interesting mix of new and old, plus plenty of decay and graffiti along the way.
As we were leaving we took a quick stroll up to the top level of the multi-story car park on Eyre Street to take in some high-level sights, and then we made our way to the Peace Gardens where we enjoyed a bit of street theatre before calling it a night.
All in all a very enjoyable evening, plenty of regulars turned up plus a couple of new faces which is always a treat.
Anyway, since we're a photo group we did manage to get a few snaps....
That's all we've got for now. If you came on the outing but your photos aren't on here just post them in the forum and I'll update it. If you didn't come on the outing but wish you had then take a look on the 'Future Outings' menu above to find out where we're going next.
9th April 2014 - Now that spring is here and the evenings are becoming more mild we decided to spend a few hours at the top of the amphitheatre behind the Sheffield train station to watch the sun go down over the city. Sadly we never saw the sun thanks to all the cloud cover but we still managed to get some good shots of Sheffield at night.
Here's my time-lapse video. 500+ photos over 2 hours condensed into 16 seconds.
