The Tekathon is a new and hopefully annual charity fundraising campaign organised by I Just Wanna Tek Gud Photos.
For our first Tekathon we set ourselves the target of £414 (£1 for every member of our Facebook group as of July 2014) in aid of The Children's Hospital Charity.

The fundraising comprised two main activities, firstly a photo walk around Sheffield where all who took part would make a donation, followed by an exhibition in Eten cafe in Sheffield launching in November 2014 where the photos we took would be offered for sale to further boost our contribution towards the charity.
The photowalk went ahead on the morning of Sunday 28th September 2014. We were very lucky with the weather considering it was September and the added excitement of the Great Yorkshire Run which was also going on in town at the same time made this a very memorable walk.
We'll be accepting donations until the exhibition closes so please do keep chipping in, link below.

About our chosen charity:
The Children's Hospital, Sheffield is one of only 4 stand-alone children’s hospitals in the UK. The charity’s role is to provide over and above the standard NHS provision, enhancing the hospital and matching world class equipment with existing world class expertise.
Our hospital is a Centre of Excellence in many areas. Over 245,000 patient journeys are made to our hospital a year, helping children from our region, the UK and worldwide to receive the best care possible.
Our current Make it Better appeal, is to transform the children’s hospital as we know it. We aim to raise £10 million regionally by 2016 so we can create an environment which helps our children get better more quickly, with privacy to recover from painful surgeries. We want to provide world-class facilities with the world-class expertise already provided.
Ways to donate:
Online using this Just Giving page: www.justgiving.com/tekathon2014
Cash on the day in the charity buckets
Buy a print at the exhibition
£414 - That's just £1 for each member of the Facebook group (as at 15/07/2014)
The walk (route here) will take roughly 2 hours to get around and since it will be entirely within Sheffield city centre it will be pushchair/wheelchair friendly and very easy going. We have planned regular stops at interesting locations with insights into Sheffield's history provided along the way.
Everyone is welcome to take part; all skill levels and the more the better. Remember this is for a good cause and as with all of our outings you will have the opportunity to get to know and learn from other photographers whilst you tek you photos.
We will work with the cafe to try to make sure that you are informed about any sales of your photos, if any of your prints are unsold at the close of the exhibition they will be yours to collect and keep.
Any questions, comments or suggestions please post in the comments below or the forum/facebook group.
Please share this with everyone you know! Our fundraising target is high and it's for a great cause. The sharing buttons below will help you to spread the word on facebook, twitter and Google+.
Thank you for your support!
